Classical Tibetan Reading and Pronunciation Practice 101

This six-week Tibetan Alphabet and Reading course teaches the foundations of Tibetan script, pronunciation, and reading fluency. Students will learn to recognize letters, form syllables, and read Tibetan texts with confidence through guided practice and personalized support. The course serves as preparation for the Heart of Tibetan – Colloquial Tibetan 101 language course, but is also open to anyone who wishes to master the Tibetan writing system. By the end of the course, students will be able to read Tibetan texts, including Sanskrit mantras written in Tibetan script.

The Basics
Daily Structure & What to Expect
This six-week course is designed to teach the Tibetan alphabet, pronunciation, and reading skills needed for further study of the Tibetan language. It serves as a prerequisite for The Heart of Tibetan – Online Colloquial Tibetan Lower Beginner Language Course (Tib. 101), but is also suitable for anyone who wishes to learn how to read Tibetan script.
Students will learn how to recognize letters, form syllables, and read words correctly while developing confidence through guided practice, small group work, and individual support. The course combines live classes, private tutoring sessions, and collaborative reading exercises to help students build fluency quickly and effectively.
