Catherine Brown’s over three decades as an English language educator and teacher trainer have presented her with countless opportunities to work with and learn from students spanning the globe. She was first drawn to India and Nepal in 1991 while researching ancient Buddhist and Hindu art and architecture. Over her extensive career in education, she has taught English to non-native speaking learners aged kindergarten through adult in the US, India, and Vietnam, traveled the US conducting teacher training seminars, conducted courses in teaching methodology for Portland State and Antioch Universities, represented the US Department of State as a Virtual Educator, and continues to teach ESL at her local community college. Upon arriving at SINI for the first time in 2015, she knew she had found a place to learn and meaningfully contribute. What better location for a career educator to serve than in the very area where the Buddha first turned the wheel of Dharma over 2,500 years ago, and what better aspiration than to gather in support of all who seek to disseminate these precious teachings!
