Lopon Tenzing Sherpa arrived at SINI from Choekhorling Monastery in Bir in the fall of 2021 and completed the EDP program in 2024, excelling as an English language student. He was among the first SINI students to take the IELTS test, an internationally recognized exam for English proficiency among non-native speakers. His academic performance has been outstanding throughout his time at SINI. In 2024, Lopon Sherpa was selected for the prestigious Visitorship for Traditional Buddhist Scholars under the Asian and Middle Eastern Studies Program at Oxford University. During his two-month stay in Oxford, he taught translation and participated in various seminars. His fellowship will focus on work as a translator for the Kangyur Karchag project.
