Tenpa Tsering
Born in central Tibet, Tenpa Tsering began his basic education in Tibet and continued his studies in the Tibetan Children’s Village school in India. He earned his Shastri (bachelor) degree in Tibetan Language and Buddhism in 2007, and Acharya (master) degree in Buddhism in 2009 at the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies (CIHTS) in Varanasi. In 2012, he pursued his M.Phil. at CIHTS and became a guest lecturer of English Language in the Department of Fine Arts.

As a Tibetan language enthusiast, he has been offering colloquial and classical Tibetan classes to students of different backgrounds and nationalities since he was a student at CIHTS. His career as an editor, researcher, translator, and teacher led him to join the University of Bonn, German as a Tibetan lecturer in the Department of Tibetan and Mongolian Studies in 2019 to teach Tibetan Language and Literature for two years and create the content for the university’s Digital Tibetan Learning Program.

In 2021, he first joined SINI as the assistant teacher to SINI’s Colloquial Tibetan Language online program, only to soon start developing curricula for Classical Tibetan classes, the missing piece in SINI’s growing Tibetan Language department. Tenpa Tsering himself has acquired and speaks several languages, which he brings to his current position as the lead instructor of two Classical Tibetan online classes while also developing curricula for future Classical Tibetan Language classes.

Regardless of introductory, beginning, intermediate and advanced level, he measures success by how much joy he can bring to the classroom.
