Khenpo Ngawang Choephel

I’m Khenpo Ngawang Chophel from Ruthok in Upper Tsang, Tibet. I’ve devoted my life to studying and teaching Buddhist wisdom since 1997, when I first joined Shar Gum Thubten Choling monastery in Nepal.

After years of deep study at Thekchok Namdrol Shedrub Dargye Ling, I earned the title of Lopon (teacher) in 2015. I served in various roles including junior disciplinarian and chief administrator at our philosophical college. In 2023, I was honored with the title of Khenpo, recognizing my scholarship in Buddhist philosophy.

Throughout my journey, I’ve taught Madhyamaka philosophy, Pramana (Buddhist logic), Uttaratantra, and traditional Tibetan sciences at several institutions including Rigo Tashi Choling Monastery in Nepal, Kagyu Nalanda, and Yeshe Odsal Sherab Raldri Ling. I also served as a member of the Bylakuppe Local Autonomous Committee from 2018 to 2020. Currently, I’m learning English at SINI.
