Guusje Ebbens has been involved with Tarthang Tulku’s Nyingma organization since 1979. A textile arts teacher, she established Lotus Design for the Nyingma Center in Amsterdam, which continues to support Tarthang Tulku Rinpoche’s projects.

In 1994, she studied at the Nyingma Institute in Berkeley, where she first learned classical Tibetan. Upon returning to the Netherlands, she took Tibetan language classes from a monk who translated for a Geshe and attended the Buddhist Master’s program at Maitreya Institute.

Since 2006, Guusje has taught various courses at the Nyingma Center in Amsterdam. From 2010 to 2020, she led the Dutch branch of Dharma Publishing, overseeing the translation and publication of several works. In 2011, she was asked to establish a classical Tibetan language program at the Nyingma Center, deepening her studies through courses at Rangjung Yeshe Institute in Kathmandu.
