I first encountered Buddhadharma a long time ago, in 2005. My initial motivation to learn Tibetan language was similar to Ms. Ostrich: I aspired to understand Buddhist philosophy more deeply. Not long after that I started to work as a tour guide in Tibet. During my travels, I developed an interest in Tibetan culture, too. Tibetan language has many aspects and insights to offer along with being the gateway to understanding Buddhism! I lived in Lhasa for three years, but paradoxically, I couldn’t master the language well—I wish I had a good teacher who knew how to explain it as a second language to Western students. Thus, I decided to enroll in the M.A. program at Vienna University to undertake the studies in a systematic manner. In 2020 I graduated with an M.A. in Tibetology. While in Vienna, I was a teacher’s assistant for Modern Colloquial Tibetan and after that, I worked as a language instructor for Classical and Colloquial Tibetan at Rangjung Yeshe Institute in Kathmandu.
I love teaching because this is an excellent chance for me to continue learning and constantly improving my language skills and knowledge! My main aspiration is to share my experience in learning Tibetan and make this language accessible to anyone who has some time and the motivation to master it. I want to prove that learning Tibetan is fun and not as hard as some may think! I am very excited to join the team of dedicated colleagues and fellow Tibetan language enthusiasts at SINI. Looking forward to meeting you in class!
